We have had another wonderful year with the icing on the cake being awarded a West Berkshire Quality Award and receiving an Outstanding Ofsted inspection all on the same day in March!
As usual it’s been a busy year with children coming and going. We’ve also welcomed college students and work experience students to spend some time with us. We continue to welcome parents into the pre-school and involve them in all our activities. Earlier in the year we started a grandparent’s week and were delighted with the number of grandparents who came and enjoyed a session with us – they said times have certainly changed since their day! We continue to have a dad’s week too to try and encourage more dads to come and play with their children.
We now have a regular dance teacher come in and we’ve had a football taster session. We have started to have visits from people in the local community and recently had a visit from a policeman. We hope to have a visit from the Mayor of Thatcham soon!
We have been on various trips out over the year to Thatcham Discovery Centre and lakes, Rushall Farm, Beale Park and a visit to Waitrose for a Chinese take-a-way as the Little Szechaun was closed for refurbishment!
We continued to help others too with our fundraising for Children in Need, Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, collecting food for the Methodist Church Harvest Festival and more recently we have started collecting food for the West Berks Food Bank.
We also fundraise for the pre-school too by getting involved with the Christmas Fayre, Sponsored walk and obstacle course, Thatcham Lights Ceremony, filling Smarties tubes, pamper evening as well as Thatcham’s Fun Day.
Our performances to parents and families continue as in previous years with a performance, at the Christmas Fayre, of nursery rhymes learnt as part of the Bookstart Rhyme Time Challenge. We continue to perform our Nativity Plays which we now also perform for the Methodist Church’s Café Church. At the end of the summer term we’ll have our usual sports days and picnic in the garden.
We’ll then send 30 plus children off to school with our best wishes and then it starts all over again!
