Since December 2012 we have been holding a monthly Songs of Praise service at Alice Bye Court (ABC).
During the past seven months the service has become an established event for residents at ABC. We now have approx. 30 people attending, including the regular support of 8-10 of our own members for which we are most grateful.
Edna, David, Beryl & Eric and Sylvia – all residents at ABC as well as being members of our own church have been instrumental in making the services a success, with Sylvia playing the keyboard.
Thank you to those who helped compile the hymn/books/leaflets that are used at ABC - usually traditional and very favourite hymns that most of the congregation know from younger days.
Services have been led in turn by Maree, Jeff and Karen, comprising half an hour of favourite hymns, a bible reading, a reflection and prayer.
The room we use is large and not easy for the leaders to make themselves heard without a microphone system. Is this something that the church may be able to purchase as part of its mission?
It has been a privilege to share in leading the worship, and to see the joy on the residents’ faces as we sing our praises to God.
So, if you’re available on the first Friday of the month at 2pm, please join us in the Lounge at Alice Bye Court for Songs of Praise.
We are currently working with the Worship Consultation Group on the development of alternative worship.
